-What has been your big take away from all that you’ve learned in the past year? The good news is the lessons and blessings I’ve received from this disease are ones that have been vital for my emotional and spiritual growth. We all have things we struggle with that we cannot change. We cannot control our destiny, but we can control how we deal with it. Being different and unique is what unites us, and owning our truth is so powerful.

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope all of you are off to a great start!

It's only a couple of weeks into the year and I know many of you are struggling with your resolutions.  I

used to make a long list of resolutions because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do only to discover by mid-January that everything I had resolved to do would never happen.  I was a great procrastinator and always felt like a failure at this.  My feelings were finally va...

The temps and leaves are falling, your cravings for comfort foods are through the roof and, with the holidays just around the corner, you can feel the waistband of your breeches tightening.  Sound familiar?

Maybe it's time to try some health coaching.  What is health coaching?  It's just like a riding lesson, but instead of learning how to manage your canter rhythm, you'll learn how to manage your daily life rhythm.  I work with clients one on one to...

What a great question!  Those five little words that are spoken the moment you walk into any brick and mortar shop.  Sometimes I find them comforting.  Other times I find them to be annoying like a gnat buzzing around my head.  Then there are times when it’s just a loaded question waiting for a response like why yes, can you please take a look at my to-do list and just take care of it all for me?  And then there are times when you really need someone to lis...

I love reading stories about people, riders in particular, who come to the realization that in order to ride better, they have to feel better in their bodies.  I'd like to introduce you to Jaime Krupnick Geffen.  You may have seen her ride or heard about her recently winning just about everything in the adult equitation classes on the west coast. The following is her journey, or rather her truth, that starts with awareness of how she was feeling in her body...

I was at the grocery store this week and saw the first signs of fall…apples and pears!

Welcome to fall.  Ok, officially the new season begins on September 23rd, but we’re already feeling it here in Austin, TX.  We spent four months drenched in sweat from100+ temps and for the past week it has been raining like crazy with temps dipping into the 70’s & 80’s.  It feels like a cold front!  And yes, I’m actually wearing pants for the first time since May!...

This blog is a little self-serving, but I felt compelled to introduce all of you to several people who inspired this little venture, Equestrian Wellness.  I lovingly refer to them as my herd.  They are Aurelie, Bettina and Kenny.  You’ll discover their stories here.  I call them my advisors.  They are really my reverse mentors.  Yes, I’m a few decades older, but we all came together in a rather serendipitous way, at Aurelie’s family’s stable in a...

Coffee…it’s the great morning energizer and many of us have these long-standing morning rituals that include the making of and savoring of this tasty beverage.  We rely on this important beverage to give us a jolt out of bed; boost our energy during the day and to create a sense of mental clarity.  And then some of us simply use it to create the urge to go to the bathroom.

The problem is coffee is an acidic beverage that can wreak havoc on our dig...

There are innumerable health benefits of adding lemon juice and water into your daily regime.  Lemon is an inexpensive, readily available citrus fruit, popular for its culinary and medicinal uses. Lemon juice consists of about 5% citric acid that gives a tart-like taste to lemon and yet it is very alkalizing to the body.  Lemon is a rich source of vitamin C and also contains vitamins B, riboflavin and minerals such as calcium, phosphorous, and magnesium.  L...

What is acid reflux/heartburn?

This occurs when strong stomach acid leaks back up into the esophagus. The esophagus is the tube which carries food from your mouth to your stomach.  When you swallow, a circular band of muscle around the bottom of the esophagus relaxes to allow food and liquid to enter into the stomach. Normally, this muscle valve, called the lower esophageal sphincter, is closed and keeps the digestive acid and food inside the stomach.  How...
