Resolutions vs. Manifesting Intentions

Happy New Year Everyone! Hope all of you are off to a great start!

It's only a couple of weeks into the year and I know many of you are struggling with your resolutions. I

used to make a long list of resolutions because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do only to discover by mid-January that everything I had resolved to do would never happen. I was a great procrastinator and always felt like a failure at this. My feelings were finally validated when I discovered there’s a national holiday called ‘Ditch Your New Year’s Resolutions’ day which happens to be today, January 17th.

Once I learned that this resolution making exercise was simply futile, I came to understand that what I really wanted to be doing was manifesting my intentions. Setting and manifesting intentions are a great way to attract what you want in your life.

I’d like to encourage you to let go of those resolutions that are making you feel trapped and insecure and take this time instead to explore setting some intentions for 2019. If you’re not sure how to create intentions, think about the concept of making statements to manifest what you really want to have happen. So instead of stating, ‘lose 25 lbs,’ instead ask yourself how you would feel if you were carrying around less weigh and what would your life look like? What else would you like to have happen in your life? What do you want to learn about? What do you want to have happen in your riding life? Career? Where you live? Continuing Education? Your health? Wellness? Self care? Travel? Love? Relationships? Other passions? Spiritual practice? Anything else that is important to you?

The first step in this process is to get really clear about what you want. Writing things down in a journal is quite helpful. Take the time to look at what you’re writing several times a day. Create a Pinterest board, create a mantra around your intentions, and think about what it would feel like to experience this thing you want. You have to want it, see it and believe it will happen.

I use this technique on all sorts of things each day! It really is effective in creating the life you want for yourself.

If you are looking for more guidance on creating intentions, I highly recommend these inspiring books / authors:

xoxo
